Fan Bird Carving

This 2-day workshop will teach you everything you need to know about carving fan birds.

Some experience with using knives and chisels will be helpful but not essential.

On day 1 you will learn what tools are used and how to use them safely, as well as how to sharpen them; what woods to use; how to prepare them; and how to make a fan. You should be able to make your first bird by the end of the day.

On day 2 you will learn how to make different types of fan bird and how to improve your techniques.
