"Trees outstrip most people in the extent and depth of their work for the public good"

Did you know that it is perfectly legal to buy and sell wood that has been illegally logged in any country in the EU ?

This is unacceptabe; what would happen in this country if illegal logging companies clear-felled Sherwood Forest or the New Forest, or both at once, and then sold this timber through major timber companies around the world?

We generally do not know if wood products we buy are from clear-felled forests a process which destroys thousands of hectares of vibrant forests each day. The chances are, that we are all unknowingly buying wood products that have made people homeless, killed thousands of animals and then caused major soil erosion.

We CAN do something about this. Write to your MPs and MEPs - it is easy - follow this link to www.writetothem.com. You will then be able to find your local MP and to send them your views. Tell them that you want them to make it illegal to trade in illegally logged wood.
Remember they are our representatives, we elected them to serve us, so lets make them earn their keep.

If you want to buy ethical wood look out for the FSC logo.
